Meet Russia’s richest It-girls (Photos)
Fourteen-year-old fashion designer Kira Plastinina is among such girls. Her father Sergei is worth an estimated 700 million dollars.
Last week he reportedly paid two million dollars to fly Paris Hilton to Russia to endorse his daughter’s label at the Moscow Fashion Show.
Unsurprisingly, in a country where one in four people still lives below the poverty line, such extravagance causes deep resentment.
And whereas America took 200 years to produce the likes of Paris Hilton, the Russian equivalents have emerged only 16 years after the fall of the Soviet Union, The Daily Mail reports.

Economies 2.0
Talking about fashion industry, I salute to some girls in Mumbai who have ventured into this industry against all odds. I was a coach to 2 of them. I salute to them, because they ventured into the unknown when odds were not in favour of them. That is the India I salute to.
Yes these heroes of mine will make it big in India! But beyond a certain threshold they will have to look to America and Europe. They will need London, Paris, Milan and New York to make it big in fashion. A Paris Hilton wearing their dresses will give them a bigger advantage than an Aishwarya Roy.
Today it is a global marketplace. It is nobody’s field alone! But it is important to note that PERHAPS if it took Russians only 16 years, it is because it took Americans 200.
I have no personal affinity for US. In fact as an Australian citizen I traditionally hate US at a personal level. But I am also a professional. As a professional I know that Americans have dominated in a lot of fields in business and science. Particularly in Marketing and Media, they have mastered it better than any other nation that I know of.
I am not surprised that Sergei paid 2 million to Paris Hilton. When it comes to branding and marketing themselves even an American brat called Paris Hilton has mastered the art.
In a global marketplace no matter which market emerges, it will have to depend on some American involvement.
